The Idea Factory with Coworking as a Medium
The concept itself is nothing new. Freelancers and small business have always teamed up for office shares. What makes coworking any different? In my mind the definition of an office share would be simple âA closed group of people spreading the cost of an officeâ?. Whereas coworking is the next evolution of this model.
Think of it this way, what if you could not only spread the cost of your business, but quickly and easily pool resources with a larger community of likeminded individuals? Your office share is limited to a stagnant pool of talent that will rarely change. What if your community was more fluidic? How would that affect your business model?
This is the next revolution of business. Coworking allows seamless collaboration between companies and individuals who may never have met under other more static environments. Our new economy will be built on ideas and ideas need the right environment to grow. When creative minds are provided with an ideal environment and are supported by peerâs ideas with turn from good to ingenious.
Maybe this all sounds a bit too good to be true but every business stated off with one Individual who took a chance. Every company is only made up of the sum of the individuals who work for them. A fluidic structure means that individuals can join forces and all work for individual goals. At the same time they can also leverage the power of the many to help make those goals happen. This is my definition of the future of coworking.
In my mind, for creativity to flourish people need the freedom to express new ideas freely. In a typical working environment this can be difficult if not impossible. If you are a freelancer you know all too well that the only people you can bounce an idea off are peers. So this is where the social element of cowoking comes in.
We intend getting an office in the next 8 weeks and i had been thinking about a straight forward office share but this looks interesting. I like the fluid interaction nature of it but i am also thinking about the stable income from a set office share so we will have to look at that carefully.
Thanks for dropping by Alan. This is where the issue of coworking can get a bit muddled. There is always a risk vices reward relationship with coworking. That being said, a good ideas is always a flexible one.
In my mind a semi fluidic environment would be better than none at all. Why not try office share some of the space and keep one or two spaces for a collaborative area. Invite local Independents or freelances into the space to work with you and introduce the idea slowly. This way you can cover costs while also benefiting from the fluidic nature of coworking.
As with every new idea, you sometimes need to help drive the demand to make the idea a reality.
